Deepwell Injection
Deepwell Injection
Deepwell
Injection is a liquid waste disposal technology. This
alternative uses injection wells to place treated or
untreated liquid waste into geologic formations that have no
potential to allow migration of contaminates into potential
potable water aquifers. A typical injection well consists
of concentric pipes and casings which extend several
thousand feet below the ground surface. When a well is
considered full by filling the “injection zone,” the casing
is then filled up and sealed off by filling the remainder of
the pipe with concrete. The target contaminate group for
deepwell injection are VOC’s, SVOC’s, fuels, explosives, and
pesticides.
