Effective
Environmental, Inc. provides design and evaluation services
for new construction projects. Working together with
principal architects or engineers, E2 is equipped
to offer a number of services including design review, code
analysis and testing. We can also plan and prepare
specifications for environmental repair and remediation
projects.
E2
has performed numerous large and sensitive
construction projects in residential, commercial, and
industrial settings. These projects involved many different
aspects of construction, including but not limited to:
Facility upgrades, water treatment and pump systems,
transfer switches, implementing erosion and dust control
measures, as well as environmental remediation in
conjunction with new construction.
We are experienced in the installation and removal of
underground (UST) and aboveground (AST) storage tanks,
fueling systems and related environmental services. E2
has been involved in numerous fueling systems
projects. These projects have ranged from single tank
removals to construction of complex multi million dollar
fueling facilities.
E2 specializes in all phases of fuel system
management. We are able to assist in systems design,
renovation, and installation. In addition, E2 is
a skilled remediation contractor with extensive experience
in the cleanup of environmentally damaged sites. This strong
combination has allowed E2 to assist its clients
in dealing with unexpected contamination discovered during
facility upgrades and repairs, including successfully
installing and operating groundwater treatment systems and
soft vapor extraction systems.
Effective Environmental’s comprehensive construction and
design services are backed by our dedicated personnel and
extensive project experience. The E2 commitment
to safety and excellence makes us a preferred contractor and
service provider to major corporations, government agencies,
and school districts. We provide innovative solutions to all
your environmental challenges. E2 professionals
take pride in their attention to detail and workmanship. As
a result, E2 has established a reputation with
its clients for delivering high quality projects on-time and
on-budget.
Construction and Design Services include, but
are not limited to:
□ Wash
Bays and Sumps
□ Underground and Aboveground Storage Tanks
(UST and AST)
□ Containment Structures and Waste Storage Units
□ Separators and Evaporators
□ Flow Control
□ Storm Water Runoff Systems
□ Pond Construction
□ Bioremediation Cells Construction
□ Slurry Wall Construction
□ Funnel and Gate System Construction
Wash
Bays and Sumps (buses, cars, trucks, tools and equipment)
- E2 starts by evaluating the customer’s washing
capacity needs based on size, volume, and frequency. Keeping
in mind the requirements and permit levels for discharge, E2
then designs, specs out the equipment and builds the
appropriate wash bay system. (i.e. foundation, plumbing,
electrical, etc.)
Underground and Aboveground Storage Tanks
(UST and AST)
– E2 Constructs, Designs, and even Upgrades all
types of storage tank systems. E2 evaluates the
need of the customer and then designs the system that will
best fit their operations. Our expertise covers any type of
storage tank imaginable from conception to installation.
Containment Structures and Waste Storage
Units
– E2 designs containment structures and Waste
Storage Units around our customer’s specific needs to house,
hold or handle volatile, flammable, liquid products and
processes. They can be as simple as a grated drip pan or as
complex as a non-combustible four hour fire shield building
equipped with a dry chemical fire suppression system,
explosion relief panels, explosion ventilation and explosion
proof electrical services with blast resistant doors.
Separators and Evaporators
– E2 is able to run tests for customers that
break down emulsions and separate oils, solids, and waters.
These test results then allow us to spec out the proper
equipment and processes required so we can design and
construct a system to handle the individual needs of the
customer’s operation. For example, water and oil are
separated and the oil is sent to be recycled. Then the
solids are separated from the water. The solids are then
dehydrated and sent for disposal while all of the remaining
water is sent to the evaporator leaving no wastewater.
Flow Control
– Measuring
and controlling the flow of liquids is a critical component
of many industrial and manufacturing processes. E2
has the knowledge and expertise to assist our clients
in handling measurement and displacement issues including
variation in viscosity, density, and friction. E2
helps design and construct mechanisms to achieve required
tolerance.
Storm Water Runoff Systems
– Effective Environmental can take any operation facility
(i.e. bus yards, parking lots, commercial or industrial
site) and design and construct a storm water runoff system.
E2 knows all the rules and regulations that
govern these systems and has extensive expertise in the
design and construction of them. E2 is also able
to take existing storm water systems and upgrade them which
can assist with any new compliance regulations or for cost
savings for the customer.
Pond Construction
– E2 is capable of handling all aspects of pond
projects. We can carry the project from initial sludge
removal and remediation to the final shaping and relining
phase. This eliminates the need for our clients to face
additional mobilization and equipment costs that would
normally be required if separate contractors were needed for
each phase of a pond reclamation project. With the right
equipment and personnel, we focus on providing our clients
with a consistent and uniform final product. E2
can build a wide variety of lined ponds ranging in size from
50 m2 to over 40,000 m2.
Bioremediation Cells Construction
– E2 constructs many varied types and sizes of
bioremediation cells as large as 200,000 tons in order to
meet the economic and liability needs of our clients.
Cell Features Include:
- Above
ground or below ground construction
- Powered ventilation, passive ventilation or no ventilation
cells
- Use of various liner types (e.g. HDPE, PVC, and RPE)
- Earthen or concrete wall construction
- Leachate collection system with easy access for future
sampling
Slurry
Wall Construction
– Slurry Walls are used to contain contaminated groundwater,
divert contaminated groundwater from drinking water intake,
divert uncontaminated ground water flow, and/or provide a
barrier for the groundwater treatment system.
These subsurface barriers consist of vertically excavated
trenches that are filled with bentonite slurry. The slurry
hydraulically shores the trench to prevent collapse and
forms a filter cake to reduce ground water flow. Slurry
walls are often used where the waste mass is too large for
practical treatment and where soluble and mobile
constituents pose an imminent threat to a source of drinking
water. Slurry walls are a full-scale technology that has
been used for decades as long-term solutions for controlling
seepage. They are often used in conjunction with capping.
The technology has demonstrated its effectiveness in
containing uncontaminated groundwater.
Most slurry walls are constructed of a soil, bentonite, and
water mixture. The bentonite is used primarily for
stabilization during trench excavation. A soil-bentonite
backfill material is then placed into the trench (displacing
the material) to create the cut-off wall. This composition
provides a barrier with low permeability and chemical
resistance at a low cost. Other compositions, such as
cement/ bentonite, pozzolan/ bentonite, attapulgite,
organically modified bentonite, or geomembrane composite,
may be used if greater structural strength is required or if
chemical incompatibilities between bentonite and known
contaminants exist.
Funnel and Gate Systems
– E2
is capable of designing and constructing funnel and
gate systems. A funnel and gate system is a passive
remediation method which utilizes cutoff walls (the funnel)
to modify flow patterns so that ground water flows primarily
through high conductivity gaps (the gates). The
non-permeable funnel serves to lead the contaminated
groundwater to the highly permeable gate which contains a
reactive agent (i.e. iron granules). The reactive agent and
the design of these systems vary depending on the site
specific conditions and contaminants of concern.
Construction activities are managed by technically qualified
personnel using a staff of skilled labor for project
execution. The latest techniques and standards are employed
in performing such activities to ensure the highest level of
quality and workmanship.
